wow.

finally she's getting married. Wish you well, will just use this torch for setting fire to someone, I guess....

bits and bobs

Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa was supposed to be the 'new benchmark' (Lisa Surihani) in Malaysian filmaking. But instead it flopped on many counts.....

-why is the protagonist speaking such flat dialogue in several languages? Such an Alpha male should be smooth and have elocution, not sound like a tourist reading a phrasebook...

-We have a love story between prince and princess....who promptly disappear before we get to know them. And Marcus shouldn't call Horatio by his English name Horace- it's just wrong.

-I know it's a mythical account of Kedah/Langkasuka's history but why on Earth would the Han Emperor send a princess and not one of his own princes? Out of chracter for an entire era.

-We have very Chinese characters on one side...who don't speak Chinese, and instead use very thick accented Malaysian English with each other. It just hurts my ears. Most viewers won't notice Malaysian accented Putonghua (Mandarin) but most will notice Manglish.

-Our hero is quite helpless for most of the movie.

-some blatant ripoffs from Pirates of the Caribbean, down to the little Jentayu (NOT a seaworthy vessel), the kampung warriors

-an Archimedes Death Ray....? dear physicsts, does it even work that way...?

-"Parut"..... in Brunei that means something else, you know :{P
